As Chinese President Xi Jinping and his American counterpart Barack Obama prepare for their "casual" summit June 7-8 at Sunnylands, the former Annenberg Estate in Rancho Mirage, California, we asked Orville Schell, director of Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations, why this particular meeting is so important and what we might expect to come out of it. "I think for them to be in the same place for two days in this sort of setting that begs a certain informality is quite unprecendented and not characteristic of what Chinese leaders tend to strive for," Schell said. "Over the past 10 years we haven’t really seen anything like this with president Hu Jintao."
