“The U.S. is well advised to keep its distance from this,” said Orville Schell, director of the Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations. “There’s no benefit in our government interfering. The Chinese do not respond well, even if there is malfeasance, to gratuitous Western judgments.”
